We would like to extend our congratulations to the team at The Clink Restaurants for winning the ‘Best Local Menu’ at the 2014 Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards. Voted by the people of Surrey, the awards recognised The Clink’s restaurant at HMP High Down in Sutton for its focus on freshly cooked, flavoursome menus that are created using the very best locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
The team here at Pelican has been supporting The Clink Restaurants – which uniquely operates three fine dining establishments in prisons in Sutton, Cardiff and Brixton – with its product purchasing and procurement management. By generating financial savings and operational efficiencies across the organisation via the procurement partnership, all money saved can be reinvested in to helping it meet its growth plans, which is to have 10 sites by 2017.
As well as winning the ‘Best Local Menu' award, The Clink was also shortlisted for the 'Restaurant of the Year' category, which is an excellent achievement, particularly when you consider how many fantastic restaurants there are located in in the county, including three Michelin starred establishments.
We believe The Clink Restaurant are deserving winners of the award – not only for providing a dining experience that is second-to-none, but in the great work it is doing to rehabilitate prisoners and ultimately reduce reoffending rates, through training and education.
